Like most of you my business partner Scott Chase and myself know first hand what it’s like being let go from a job especially one you might have been in for 10 to 20 plus years.  You spend years at a company being a dedicated and hard working employee and looking forward to finishing out your career and retiring one day.  To only be called into your bosses office one morning to see an HR person (kiss of death) sitting there when you walk in.  Sound familiar?

As for me I was devastated, so for months I did what most of us do. I posted my resume on all the job search engines, I contacted all the recruiters I knew, and I applied to all the positions online into the black hole that I felt were a fit. After about three to four months of this, nothing was really happening; I was frustrated, angry and scared.  Then one day during a phone interview that was wasn’t going well, the interviewer told me about Rod Colon, a well known motivational speaker, career coach and founder of the ETP Network.

At this point I didn’t know much about networking and career coaching, so I took his advice and looked up Rod and his networking group and sent him an email. Rod’s response was immediate and our conversation was inspiring. I joined the ETP Network and was amazed how supportive the members are. Rod Colon’s teachings of the CEO of Me Inc really made sense to me in my job search approach. Once I started applying the 7 step methodology to my job search, everything changed; I took back control of my career and never looked back.

The Career Helpdesk came about through the inspiration of the ETP Network, we wanted to take the CEO of Me mentality and reach others that are struggling. We wanted to create a helpdesk that truly is a helpdesk.  A place you can call to get the advice and moral support you need to keep the momentum going whether your job searching or thinking about a career change.
